Full Blown Summer

I've sat down to do a quick catch up post and I can't believe it's been two weeks since I last wrote anything. I was sure I only had a week of stuff to write about. Just shows you how the weeks are all rolling into one at the moment. So what's been happening? Well, Iain's schedule was all over the place last week with him working two late nights (we actually went to a match) then heading away to Phoenix for the Combine, a sort of scouting weekend for the MLB. As he continues to throw himself into his new position (he's loving it), I've been throwing myself into keeping William and myself busy every day. Some days I'm motivated and get us out and doing things, but idleness is creeping into our weeks and I'm finding it harder to get us out the door and doing interesting stuff. Then I feel guilty about it. Aargh. We have had a couple of playdates but without my usual network of mates inviting us out to do things, it can feel like a lot of pressure on me to come up with the goods every. single. day.

Anyway, things we have done over the past couple of weeks include: joining the library and spending hours at the downtown County library which is really brilliant; checking out all sorts of different shops to see which ones have the best selection(s) and at the best prices; buying a lamp from Marketplace and heading to Cape Coral (again) to collect it; having an light appearing on the car and spending almost all day trying to fix a flat tyre; training five days a week and running in the most ridiculous heat; having playdates at the swimming pool (when its open that is - the pump is currently broken and it's been closed since Friday); going to the observation area at the airport to watch planes taking off and landing; going to the huge playground downtown; getting my first US haircut/colour which I'm pretty happy with in terms of how it looks and the price; getting William to read in english everyday and he's even started a Zoom summer reading programme which he's loving; and visiting the Manatee nature park today.

I've been trying to get on with some home admin too and have had some luck in getting doctors appointments for William and I, plus a mega-win in getting reimbursed for cancelled AirFrance flights (that we weren't going to use anyway!). We've used the money to book a very last minute trip away next weekend to Legoland. As you might imagine, William almost popped with excitement when we told him. Thought we were going to have to scrape him off the ceiling! Iain and I are actually also really looking forward to it too.

We're having some people round to celebrate the 4th of July on Tuesday so William and I have also been out getting some decorations for the occasion and prepping for it. Should be a good day.

Best. Lorna. ;-)
