What a couple of months it was, getting ready to leave. Talk about whirwind! You can only do so much prep then its time to leave. Thank you so much to our families who put up with all the stress of us getting organised, and keeping us from cracking up! It was a very emotional cheerio in Garrowhill and Glasgow Airport but we know we'll be seeing you all again soon enough.
It was only when we got on that first flight from Glasgow to Dubai that we had time to sit down and relax together for the first time in two months...and contemplate what we were really doing!!! My God it already seems like so long ago...
And it was only then we realised how far away we were actually going! Flight to Dubai was something like 8 hours then another 13 to Melbourne followed by 3 more
to Auckland.
to Auckland. Iain's new colleague, Jan (that's a boy by the way, pronounced Yan, not Jan as in Janet) came to pick us up at the airport. We were absoultely shattered, but kept going with the excitment of finally getting here. We were then taken to our hotel, and then to a welcome party at North Harbour Rugby Union - Iain's new work. What a start! They even gave us a car for running around in till we got ourselves organised. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and we knew we'd made the right decision to come out here.
