Gregor & Emma's Wedding

After only a couple of days at school, William was dogging it already to go on a trip back to Scotland for Gregor and Emma's wedding. We decided the best route was with KLM from Bordeaux to Glasgow via Schipol. All in all, it's a bit of a mission getting to Glasgow from Pau, but having lived in Taranaki for so long, we can't complain. We flew over on the Wednesday and arrived into Glasgow at tea time. It's a long day but it went absolutely fine and, as ever, William was a brilliant travelling companion.
It was cool being back in the weeg and seeing just how much gf food is available. It feels like every time we go back, there's more and more options. Here's the free from isle in Morrisons at Crossmyloof. Amazing.
Anyway, all eyes to Loch Lomond and the big event of the weekend - the marriage of Mr Gregor Hugh Cleland and Miss Emma Louise Jamieson. We had ordered William's kilt and Ronnie picked it up on the Wednesday morning so it was all ready for him to try on when we arrived. Thankfully, everything fitted and he looked amazing. We had a bit of down time on the Thursday, just hanging out and relaxing after the travelling on Wednesday and then on the Friday morning I went to the hairdressers with Sheena, Heather and Gia and the little girls to get our 'dos for the day! We even managed a cheeky champagne in the hairdressers. Bliss! Iain had taken William down to Loch Lomond already with Gregor and his dad, and the rest of the groomsmen so Sheena and I were able to have a piece and sausage back at CHQ and head down at our leisure.
Amazingly, for September, it was dry and reasonably warm so they decided to hold the ceremony outside, on the banks of the Loch. It was absolutely beautiful and there was such a lovely atmosphere with everyone arriving, milling around and then heading upstairs to get ready. Iain was full of best man duties so it was up to me to get William fully kitted out in his highland dress. I was a bit nervous but managed to get him all sorted, and get me all sorted and get us downstairs in time for the ceremony! He looked so cute.
Then it was onto the main reason we were all here. Gregor actually seemed pretty relaxed as he waited for Emma to arrive. If he was nervous, then he was doing a great job at hiding it! And then, on time, Emma arrived, beaming, and looking absolutely stunning. The two of them just looked like two peas in a pod, joking and so together throughout the whole ceremony. They really do seem to have found the perfect partner in each other.
The rest of the day passed in a bit of blur to be honest. Between numerous gin and tonics, making sure William was okay, and blethering with everyone it was just a great day. William was in superb form all day, keeping his dummy in his sporran and taking it out for quick sooks when he needed it, but hiding it away again whenever people wanted to take photos of him! He even managed to tell me he needed a pee-pee a couple of times (once, during Iain's speech) and kept his pull ups dry all day. He's getting very good with the toilet now. By 9pm he was exhausted so I just put him to bed upstairs and Iain and I were able to check on him every half hour or so. Such a joy staying on site. There were some particularly cool evening guests that I couldn't wait to catch up with namely Katie and Steph, and an old rugby mate called Iain Grant that Gregor works with at Smithycroft. Unbeknownst to me, Gregor and Emma has also invited Susie and Nic who managed to arrive about 10pm after Susie had finished her gig. Quite unbelievable! Me, Woodsie and Donnie managed to keep the chat going into the early hours and I finally fell into bed at about 2am.

Unsurprisingly, Saturday started a bit slowly but we got our breakfast and headed back to Glasgow around lunchtime. We left William with Sheena for an hour and managed to get straight into Glasgow and drop William's kilt off which was great. Meant no-one else needed to run errands for us. On Saturday night, my mum came over to CHQ for a wee while and it was time for the obligatory curry. You cannot visit Glasgow without one! And then on Sunday morning, we were off! Talk about whirlwind! A brilliant weekend with Scotland looking beautiful and everyone on top form. Congratulations to the newest Clelands.
