Back Into It...

Pau started the year with a massive, and massively important win over Bordeaux. Final result 40 - 23. Fingers crossed this is the sort of form that continues through the rest of spring. William was just happy to get on the field with the mascot...

Last weekend also saw the official end of Christmas, with the un-decorating of the tree, and Iain and William "sawing" it up in the garden. William was actually a bit disappointed when he realised that his saw was actually just a pretend one. Note, the orange cable still running the length of the house as our plug points in the living room still aren't working.
I got myself back in the pool on Monday after a ridiculously long hiatus and started with my usual 1km time trial. It's pretty rubbish to be honest. There's a lot of hard graft coming (needed). I've also roped in some of the rugby girls so hopefully our wee swim squad will gain a bit of traction. It's always more fun training with other people.

To offset my hard work in the pool I made some really unhealthy food this week. However, as it was my first attempt at steak bakes, I see it more as a culinary experiment, rather than an opportunity to get my Greggs on. I had frozen pre-rolled pastry that was needing used up so I made a filling using diced beef, onions and a rich gravy (probably too rich - I used three stock cubes which made it really salty) and then I slow cooked the meat for about four hours. After this, I spooned it into the pastry shells, covered them in an egg wash, et voila! Steak bakes. Served with beans, of course.

Absolutely delighted with them. Will definitely be giving these another shot!

In other news, we met with Dr Dellis this weekend and he has given the green light for a second round of IVF. We can't believe it. All the months of the unknown and now we have another shot at this. He says there's no rush so we can head off on holiday etc, and begin when we're ready. WOW!!!

LM. :)
