The past few weeks have flown by in a bit of blur involving everything in the title.
Before the school broke up on the 12th, I managed to squeeze in more swimming than I'd ever imagined, and since hitting the holidays I've needed something to replace it or I'd have felt that all the hard work would be lost. I found my replacement in Mr. Joe Wicks. I'd previously done some of his low impact workouts last year when I was trying to get back into some fitness things, but during these holidays I've really given him a go. It's tough, physically, but with no planning involved, I'm loving just sticking on YouTube and being told what to do. William has been doing his best too.
The school holidays are here now, and it's a lesson in keeping William entertained for a full day now that he's dropped his afternoon nap. I've been trying to give him quiet time after lunch and some days he's actually really good at just staying in his room and playing with the toys that are in there, or getting into bed. I'm not sure how long it will last though as other days he appears at the stairs and just stands there, staring at me.
As is typical for this time of year, we've had a lot of warm days, followed by some amazing thunder storms. It's quite incredible how suddenly it can get dark when the storm clouds come rolling in.
We went to see a house in Hippodrome. It was brand new and seemed to be on a split section or that an old house had been demolished and this had been put in its place. It was really lovely, modern and all on one level, and in many ways it reminded me of our house in New Plymouth. I liked the house but I just wasn't sure about the location. It would mean car trips every single time we wanted to go into town. We've been spoilt living in 11 Novembre and Hughes and Melanie's place in terms of location and I'm not sure I want to give that up. It is just so easy when people come to visit that they can enjoy town at their own pace without organising pick ups etc, and even for us, wanting to go out for dinner and enjoy a few glasses of wine with our meal. I have hummed and hawed and Iain has been really pushing me on this place so much so that we went for a second viewing. He knows that time is ticking on our current place and we have to find somewhere soon. The estate agent has been really pushing us too but I am stalling as I keep feeling that something else will come up.
Iain had no match on Saturday so the three of us headed to the Forêt de Bastard for a massive walk/cycle and picnic. William loves a picnic. It was a great trek and we covered some decent kms for wee legs.
We got up on Sunday and I noticed that William seemed to have some spots on him. There had been one on his face on the Saturday evening and I'd initially thought it was a bite but as he wasn't complaining about it, I didn't really think much more about it. Now that more had appeared on his body, I was concerned. This looked like it might be Chicken Pox. And we were due to fly to London on Friday (five days later) for Anna & Matthew's wedding. I took William to the pharmacy in town and the pharmacist confirmed my suspicions: The Pox. Damnit! Sheena reckons they'll have cleared up sufficiently by the weekend in order to travel. I hope so, I've been looking forward to this trip for so long.
On Monday afternoon, I went for a bit of a wander round the Leclerc mall on my own. While I was trying clothes on in H&M, Iain called me. He was incredibly excited, asking if I'd seen the new house listed on LeBonCoin. I replied no, but he was so keen that he said he was going to call the number there and then. It was in town, and apparently a house, so it seemed to tick our boxes. The owner agreed to let us view it later that evening, at 7pm, and told us the address. We couldn't work out how the address would be a house, but we went anyway, feeling very curious. It. Was. Amazing. If I'd been a dog, my tail would've been wagging. A proper house, but in this private Harry Potter type courtyard, right in the middle of the old town. Incredible. We told Sara and Jean Pierre there and then that we wanted to take on the lease and they also seemed to be keen on us. The only downside is that we can't move in until July, but we reckon it will be worth the wait. It's honestly that amazing. We now have lots of legal things to go through, but it looks like we've finally found a place to live. The waiting game has paid off. Here's a photo I stole form LeBonCoin.
