It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

The month started off slowly and quietly. Rather unlike me, I've embarked on a little clothes shopping for the upcoming festive celebrations. I barely buy clothes these days so this all felt somewhat indulgent! I bought a rather sparkly culotte jumpsuit (I know!) and a new blazer to match, and as soon as Iain saw it, he said you know what that outfit needs don't you? Red heels. So I went online and took a bit of a gamble in purchasing new stilettos from Next for my outfit. There was an anxious wait but finally they arrived, and they are perfect! Even managed to get a clutch to go with them from a wee shop in town so I was utterly delighted. I must give a nod to Jinty at this point as she wanted to give me some money for my Christmas, so it was essentially her who dressed me. Thanks mum!

Whilst finding things for myself, I also got William some Christmas gear and we've been proudly wearing our festive garb around the town. The weather's been quite nice some days so it's been lovely to be out and about. But it's also just as nice to snuggle on the couch, with our onesies on, watching Strictly.

The weather wasn't great on Sunday but with a wee break in the rain we went for a wander around Place Royale to see the Christmas installations. It was absolutely beautiful, and William even got to meet Père Noël. He was stoked to get some sweets from him!

William had an absolutely bobby dazzler of a fall at school on Monday and I had to go and collect him. It was tough trying to decipher what Nathalie was trying to say but I just figured that if she was calling, I needed to go. He's always falling over!

Suddenly, BAM! It was time to get our Christmas tree. We got our tree from Auchan last year but I wasn't happy with their selection this time around so we drove over to Leclerc where I'd also seen adverts for them. We got an absolute cracker, and at a really good price, and we were all happy. Iain took our car this time (to prevent the tree scraping the club car) and we got it home on the surf board carrier. William and I nipped into Gifi to get some extra decorations and he was allowed to choose a new item for the tree, and then it was home to decorate. It took the rest of the afternoon, and by the time we were finished, the place looked great and I was well into the red wine. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

On Thursday, it was the rugby girls' annual Christmas Dinner, with, naturally, a Secret Santa. We had it at Brassarie Royale again which is awesome for me as I can chat to Gen about the menu, and also, its so close to the house. However, it was absolutely bucketing down so even though it's just round the corner, I still got soaked. It was a really lovely night, and so great to welcome all the new girls into the group. It's quite amazing how much of a turnover of people there's been since our last night out at Brasserie Royale. The booze flowed, the chat sored and we quickly got into the secret santa nonsense. It was your usual array of scarves, candles, Sephora vouchers etc but someone put a bloody goldfish in the pile! Katie Smith ended up with it and in an offering of friendship I unburdened her from it. Poor girl has just arrived here - she doesn't need a pet to look after too. I have to say though that in the excitement of the game, I managed to get my new shoes caught in the leg of my very flared culottes and take a tumble. I actually thought I'd dislocated my big toe and ended up limping home in the rain with my goldfish under my arm. What a night.

As you can imagine, William was very excited about our new addition when he came down for breakfast on Friday morning. He has decided that he will be called "Fishy Fishy". Original.

There was no real let up in the weather and on the Friday afternoon, the rain came down so heavily that we had a pot collecting the stream of water coming down the chimney; there was a water running out of the kitchen extractor hood; and leaks appeared in the upstairs hallway ceiling. Absolutely mental.

On Saturday night, the Titos came round to ours and we all headed into town to see the light parade. We weren't really sure what this was going to entail, but I think that it was really just a way of encouraging lots of people into town. It was mad, but it was great.
