Preseason is fully underway now and this week, the limelight was on Fish to deliver The Amazing Race. The boys were out on bikes all morning, taking part in activities all over the city and Iain was running the basketball 2v2 down at the courts in front of the Boulevard. I turned up with croissants for him, Joffrey and Jonesey. William was mighty impressed watching his dad.
Through the Gluten Free Anglophones in France FB group that I admin, I found out that there is actually GF surimi available in France, if you're willing to look for it. Amazingly, I found some in Leclerc on Monday. Cue the Kristina Weston / Lithuanian rice salad that we've not had for an eternity! It was bloody brilliant. But at the staff BBQ on Friday at Fred's house, Fish said that it wasn't as good as my bacon / brocolli combo that is always a crowd pleaser.
We didn't get home from Fred and Anne's until about 12.30am. William was still in the pool at 11.30pm! The French also love a late dinner. They were BBQ-ing in the dark with torches. Mental. Anyway, this wasn't our only party for the weekend as we had to be up early for Liana's birthday shindig at 9.30am on the Saturday morning. I had to drag William out of bed to go! But I'm so glad I did. We had such a lovely morning round there. Nadia had kept things really small this year (yaaaaas - no pressure on the rest of us for all the birthdays coming up!) and we had a lovely breakfast and the kids played really cute, fun, traditional games. Lawrence was brilliant as keeping them all entertained all morning.
Good times :)
Lorna.
