Legs came to visit us at the weekend and today (Tuesday) is the first day in which I've actually felt normal. She arrived into Lourdes on Friday evening, we came straight here, and got straight on the champagne, then it was over to Cafe du Passage for dinner and more wine. Iain took William up the road then texted me to plant the seed that nightcaps at Bar No. 5 would be a good idea for Legs and me. I'm not sure it was. We ended up getting a lock-in and didn't get home until just before 5am. Needless to say, Saturday was an absolute write-off. We tried to go for lunch at Brasserie Royale but I was so rough, I couldn't even order food let alone eat anything, so ended up bailing on everyone and went home to bed for an hour. I'd previously asked Iain what he thought the collective noun was for a group of Lornas to which he replied, "A shambles". I don't think he would be far off. Saturday evening couldn't have come round fast enough as it was the launch of Strictly so we all had permission to be in our jammies for 8pm and eat pizza on the couch. Jeezo.
On Sunday, we actually did something! The train d'Artouste. Iain and I have talked about doing it for years so having Legs here was a great reason to get out into the mountains and explore. Its quite a day out as you need to drive to Artouste, then get the gondola up to the ski station before getting the train which takes a further 50mins to get round to the Lac. We left the house at about 11.30am and didn't get home until just after 7pm so you can imagine how exhausted we all were once we got home. I'd already planned cuisse de canard for dinner so it was an easy roast to round off a busy Sunday.
Even yesterday, I was still shattered! When did two day hangovers become three day hangovers?! I took Legs to get spider spray at Leroy Merlin; we did a shop at Auchan; then BEANZ for lunch (which was pretty average tbh); moseyed around some shops; and before we knew it, it was time to get in the car and head to Lourdes to drop her at the airport. An absolute whirlwind weekend like only Legs knows how. Mental.
I'm away for a lie down.
Lorna ;-)
