William gets two weeks off in autumn but I only get one week so Iain was fully in charge during the first week while I was still in exam hell at UPPA. They kept themselves busy with all sorts of adventures while my heid was bursting with photocopy anxiety (where do you get paper?!) and marking papers.
The weather simply wont turn to autumn so we've been able to get out and about a little (I'm still fixing my chest so not been that active) but to be honest, we want it to get cold now. We're ready.
Once I'd finished my lessons for the week, I got a chance to spend some time with William and we did a lot of stuff in the kitchen. It was great doing this together again. It feel like its been a long time since we did any cooking together. He's now using a big knife to chop veggies! Eeek!
With the Scotland trip coming up we were also been on the hunt for a new winter jacket. And, it turned out that he needed new trainers too. I didn't even realise that they were actually falling apart.
A very French Sunday lunch at Sophie and Andy's place. So. Much. Cheese.

We got our head into the Hallowe'en game, decorated the house and made plans for our annual get together. William and I did our usual trip to Cueillette de l'Aragnon to pick a pumpkin. We actually went to the farm on the 28th of October and there was barely a pumpkin left but I managed to spy one just as we were leaving the farm shop. Winner winner. We got a few other things too and William had a great morning. Mental produce available for the end of October. Cherry tomatoes just blooming. What?! The rest of the day was spent making spooky treat for Saturday, and our Creatures of the Deep cheesecake for lunch at Andy and Sophie's on Sunday. Talk about some forward planning! Saturday was pretty full on with a houseful all day but William had an absolutely brilliant day, and in particular enjoyed playing with Amarni at dens in his bedroom. It's great for him to have kids around that are the same age as him.
This year, William named the pumpkins: Jackie, Mary and Oscar.

The rest of this week has been punctured by marking and a feeling that I should be doing some work. The fact I'm just relaxing in bed this morning, writing my blog feels partly like a win, and partly like I should be doing something else. Iain and William went to Scotland on Wednesday which has given me some time to get ahead but I've probably procrastinated more than I've worked. I finally got my marking completed yesterday and my grades on which feels like a small win though. Need to do some planning for the rest of the semester now.
Thursday was a huge day as Ronnie received his honorary doctorate from the University of Strathclyde. I was gutted not to be there, but I was able to watch the whole ceremony on the live stream. What an incredible achievement.
It's weird not having them around. I thought I'd enjoy the peace and quiet but I'm missing them both terribly. I can't wait until they're home. I'm meeting Hannchen this afternoon for a walk which I definitely need. Cabin fever can quickly set in when you're home alone.
Right, I'm offski.
Lorna. :)
