Hanging with the Dees in Oamaru

We headed down to the South Island this weekend as Julie Brown (who I used to play rugby with at Hillhead/Jordanhill and who is now married and called Julie Dee) had organised a surprise 40th Birthday Party for her hubby, Paul. It was a glorious afternoon for our flight down, taking in Mount Taranaki with New Plymouth jutting out on the left, and the beautiful snow capped Southern Alps.
Who can spot the famous landmark on the coast at New Plymouth?!
Paul had absolutely no idea that we were coming down so it was great fun turning up at their house and jumping out on him! Paul's party was on the Saturday night where Julie did her best to make him feel as old as she could. I'm sure he'll get her back in a few years time though!
Another reason for us heading down to Oamaru was to see Julie and Paul's first baby - a gorgeous wee three month old called Connor.
I'm very impressed with Julie's mothering skills but I'm not so sure about Iain and Paul's behaviour - getting Connor to try and pick names for Iain's coupon on the Saturday in a sort of World Cup Octopus manner! Tut tut boys.
Awwwww - Don't they make a lovely family!

Cheers McAvoy. Brilliant to see the pics and Paul's birthday. My wee nephew keeps changing and I can't wait to get out there for a cuddle - my flight leaves September 7. Two whole weeks with Jules and no Bottomley kids! Loving your blog. Big Hug. Kerry Ross Hamish and Isla
