Another Grammar Reunion

We've had a couple of visitors to Devonport in the last week. I'll give you some more chat about Julie (my mate from Jets Volleyball in Edin who's currently staying with us) later as I want to get some photos up of the most recent Grammar Reunion. Through the wonders of Facebook, I realised that Ewan McIntosh who also used to work at Musselburgh Grammar was over in New Zealand.
Since leaving his job as a Modern Languages teacher at MGS, Ewan has become a bit of a new technologies guru, promoting the use of social media in education and has taken on a variety of jobs including working for Learning Teaching Scotland, Channel 4, setting up his own business and more recently doing consultancy work for the New Zealand Ministry of Education. He's a really interesting guy, and you can read more about him here. He's based in Leith (my heaaaaaart was bro-ken, my heaaaaaart was bro-ken) but travels loads - ending up in our local pub this weekend!
After a couple of hours down the Patriot, Iain and I walked Ewan down to the ferry port and waved him off. As we walked away we thought, "Why don't we just go into town with him?" He looked a bit surprised when we jumped on the ferry, especially as it was the last one of the night but it's not often we get a chance to hang out with folks from home, so we like to make the most of it.
We headed down the viaduct and chewed the fat into the wee small hours, where I also managed to pitch an idea I have for a t.v. show. (Actually, Ewan thought it was a decent idea so keep your eyes peeled!) It was great catching up and hopefully it won't be too long until Ewan's back over on another jolly paid for by the NZ Ministry of Education!

Thanks for that Lorna!! I'm pleased to see Ewan is still alive and well and most importantly in good company :-)
I hope you're still having a good time in NZ.
