Cairns Sports Exchange

I was extremely fortunate to be invited on the school trip to Cairns. As all good trippers know (ie Suzy Watson), every trip needs an educational angle and this ones' was Sport. Yes, that was the board approved, legitimate purpose of our 8 day jolly to Tropical North Queensland, Australia. Could you imagine trying to get the green light for that in a Scottish school?! Anyway, after months of planning (good work, Grant!), off we headed to Cairns with 53 children, 14 parents and 7 members of staff.

The heat was incredible when we arrived and Grant (Head of PE) had organised a myriad of activities to keep the kids busy for the first few days while they acclimatised in time for their first games of the tour. First off was the gondola trip through the rainforest followed by a visit to a crocodile farm and then a full day diving at the Great Barrier Reef. Here are some photos to keep you interested in my smug ramblings...
We saw some local wildlife in the rainforest which helped prepare us for the scary stuff later in the day...
Tina, Darren and Grant hard at work in Kuranda!
Down on the Croc farm, we were introduced to some rather nasty critters...
 But I preferred these guys...
And here's the main event. Truly massive beasts, and I was kacking my kegs
And here's some footage of the feeding time. (press play if you dare!)

 More Cairns chat/photos to follow.
LM :)
