Tough Guy & Gal

Renee managed to convince me that signing up for a 6km run through woodlands, mud pools, freezing water troughs, over obstacles and under barbed wire fences would be a good idea. It's called the Tough Guy and Gal Challenge and they're held all over NZ at this time of year. I was pretty nervous, especially when we arrived and got our runner's packs (it all seems so serious!), but it was a great laugh getting ready with the rest of the girls - namely taping trainers and clothing onto our bodies to make sure we didn't lose anything on the route.

I didn't quite know what to expect but it was actually really good fun. It wasn't really that much of a race as there are too many obstacles for you to complete that some sections bottle neck so you just go with the pace of everyone around you. I've only got before and after shots so if you want a real idea of what its about, check out the event video here. Its still nice to know where you stand, so given the conditions, I was pretty pleased with my time of 52.39. (Especially when the average time was 55.16). Good times.
