Paritutu Rock

Yesterday Iain and I went to our local beach - "Back Beach" which is less than 10mins drive from our house. Due to Mount Taranaki being a volcano, the sand here is black, but its still a beautiful area, with clear waters and the sugar loaf islands dotted around offshore. Rising a steep 156m above the beach is the imposing Paritutu Rock which we decided to climb in order to get our first decent view of New Plymouth and Mount Taranaki.
Yeah, its pretty steep!

It was great to get up Paritutu but we've both agreed that we'll be scaling Taranaki by the end of the summer. Can't wait!
