With the heavens continuing to pour down on us, we headed back towards Invercargill where there was actually a bit more going on. We found ourself some cracking accommodation (compared to the previous 80's throw back), then got out to see what there was to offer.
Iain's quick local research came up with the southermost micro brewery in New Zealand (?!) so we trotted to the Invercargill Brewery. If was pretty cool as we got some tastings then bought a heap of random beer and cider.
The following morning we went to see the town's oldest resident - Henry. Made famous from the children's books, Henry is a 110 year old tuatara who has a number of famous children's book written about him. Henry's a bit old and grumpy - here's one of his lady friends so you get a better idea of what a tuatara looks like.
Then it was on the road again, heading north towards the Edinburgh of the South, Dunedin. Once again, we some some weird NZ stuff on the way. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Teapot Land, Owaka. 'Nuff said.
LM. :)
