This week, we decided to dust off the old wheels and get out on the French roads. We can cycle into town in about 6 or 7 minutes, and the culture here is all about cycling so most drivers give way to those of us on two wheels. We have had some second looks and stares though as our up-front child seat is not the norm here. William loves it though - he gets to see everything I see, and I can chat away to him when we're driving around. We're already using it as a way of learning the colours on the traffic lights. Every day is a learning day.
One of our outings this week was to the new Aussie/Kiwi run cafe in town, Beanz. The joy of having a decent coffee again! Oh, and William very much enjoyed his baby chino! This boy is living' the dream.
William has been a wee bit unsettled again and his sleeping is all over the place. We think he's getting his molars and he's just not right. Here's another night of him in for late night snuggles. Wee soul.
His French seems to be coming on through. As we were at the cash desk in Auchan this week, he started shouting something that I couldn't quite understand. When I realised that he was pointing at Brioche Doree (the french equivalent of Greggs!) it then became apparent that he was saying "croissant". I also bought frois gras in the supermarché. Are we almost French yet?!In other news, our unwanted house guests are still here and causing havoc. I am absolutely demented, cleaning the house from top to bottom every day. They're aggressive little critters too, this week one was just standing in the kitchen looking at Iain as if to say, "What you gonna do about this?!"
Rentokill have been round and laid massive bait boxes everywhere so we're hopeful that this episode will soon be over. Eurgh.
LM ;-)
