I posted last week about my knee giving me jip. Well, I managed to get an appointment at the doctors on Monday evening and he took one look at it and told me it was infected! I felt a bit embarrassed going to the Docs with what seemed like a childhood complaint; "I've got a sore knee" so his diagnosis actually gave me some validation. He reckoned it was either due to too much bending (gardening) or trauma (volleyball). Basically, old age. I was so shocked that I went straight to the pharmacy, got the required antibiotics, necked them, got up the following morning, wondered why I was feeling awful, then read the ingredients and saw that they contained gluten. Aaaargh. Normally, I'm so careful. I went to go to the pharmacy on Tuesday morning and he told me that because of the type of antibiotics I was on, the only alternative he could offer me would be a course of injections into the joint, administered daily for ten days. Typical. But I had to decline his kind offer and request something else as I would be flying to Scotland before the course would be finished. He called my Doctor and, finally, they agreed on something suitable. Things are just never simple for me.
In other news this week, the temperatures have really dropped so William has been rocking a lot of wool and I even bought him a snood! His love of colouring in continues, and he is getting really good at holding a pencil.
The work on Place Clemenceau has finished and the winter market is set up and running. It was only right that we headed into town for some mulled wine under the fairy lights. Holidays are coming..
