Week 24: 20 - 26 November; Raclette, Gardening, Cardigans & Sickies

The week started out with the usual; just me and William stoating about doing jobs and hanging out. He's just turning into such a little boy now. He particularly loves having babychinos at Beanz. Life's no bad eh?
On Wednesday night we hosted our inaugural Raclette night. And with a houseful of Frenchies (part of the medical and fitness team from the club), it couldn't have been much more authentic! We had some issues with our raclette fusing the lights every time we plugged it in (!) but Roxy came to the rescue with his machine. For those of you who aren't familiar, its basically a table top grill with your own metal grill pan where you can choose to cook whatever cheese and meat you want, at your own pace. We had a great night and William made a total bee-line for his new pal, Roxy.

On Thursday the weather continued to be cold but dry so I got out into the garden and did quite a bit of clearing before the winter really took hold. It's just so incredibly overgrown and it has the potential to look amazing next year.
On Friday, William wasn't quite himself so we spent quite a bit of the day just snuggling on the couch. In addition, it turned out, my old body was limping along too. I woke up with a sore knee which was swollen, red, and hot to touch. I thought that perhaps it was: 1. an ingrown hair that had become infected (I tried popping it with a pin, but without joy), 2. a bite from something while I'd been doing all my gardening on Thursday, or 3. that I had jarred it at volleyball. Whatever it was, it was pretty sore. Old age eh?
Iain was away with rugby but had sneakily ordered me something I've been after for years: a Christmas vest à la Jamie Lee Curtis' character in the movie Christmas with the Kranks. He absolutely nailed it:
On Saturday, in avoiding the rain, I took William over to the shopping centre at Lescar where he hung out with the Hayman and Smith kids which I drank coffee with and Nat and Lee. To be fair, I probably shouldn't have gone as my old knee had gotten worse and I actually found that driving was quite tricky. Eeeek.

Saturday knee situation. I couldn't wear tight jeans as it was too painful with the pressure of the material. Something clearly wasn't right.
I did the classic kiwi draw-around-it-with-a-pen-and-see-what-happens with the swelling/redness over the next 24hours (i.e. does it grow bigger than the border you drew, of does it drop back?). I needn't have bothered. I got up on Sunday morning and the redness was over halfway down my shin. Definitely something going on.
LM :)
