1. Haircut
After my French haircut experience which I talked about here, I was reluctant to have William's hair cut in a French salon. However, with Ellie's brother now back in NZ, we didn't have a hipster barber to sort out his barnet. I took the plunge and just went to a place in the Auchan mall. We had a bit of a wait (in which I got blethering with a wee old French woman who loves Section) and then it was finally William's turn. I was fully armed with the Twirlywoos on YouTube but I probably didn't need it. He was so chilled and happy to let this woman loose on his hair. Simples. I must admit that I was super proud [read:smug] when two different older women remarked on him being "sage", a French term which describes a child ability to be calm and/or fully absorbed in an activity. If you're interesting in the world of French parenting, you should check out the book "French Children Don't Throw Food". Some of it is pretty eye opening. Anyway, back to the 'do. Here he is:
It's a lot shorter on top than I wanted, but what can I expect when I can't actually describe this to the stylist?! So grown up looking!
2. Potty Training
Since returning from Scotland, William has kept going on about "Ruairidh's potty". Although I didn't really expect to be introducing a potty at this stage, I just thought that this was an opportunity not to be missed. We did a special trip to Auchan where we bought a potty, an infant toilet seat and some proper big boy undies for the wee guy. There's been a lot of excitement around using the potty and toilet, but not a lot of success yet. I will refrain from posting any photos of this aspect of his development. No one really needs to see him with his bum out!
3. Lights, Camera, Action! for P'tit Club
As I have posted about before, William goes to a gymnastics club on a Wednesday morning. It's a brilliant place, with a superb coach called Roman whom William refers to as "Robot Man". They are launching a new aspect of their club for Nounous (nannies) that encourages in-home activity. As part of the package, they wanted to include an instructional movie, showing what the kids can do, and how to progress them further. For this movie, they needed some child stars! Step up William and his wee pal, Charlie. It was filmed in Charlie's house along with his mum, (and my mate) , Natalie.
I've had to trim (i.e. butcher) the movie as Blogger will only let me upload movies less than 100MB, but this gives you an idea of the finished product. A star in the making?! Pushy parent?!
4. Playgroup
Thursday brought our usual APP playgroup madness. This week we were up in Sauvagnon at Astrid's place and it was a full house celebrating her wee boy, Lucien's, birthday. William and Lucien always play really well together. Cuteness overload.
5. Spring has Sprung!
William is just turning into such a grown up boy. This was him lunching in the garden after playgroup, and on Friday he was playing the huge hole/puddle left behind by Bananagate. This photo also shows how much work we need to do in the garden in the next few weeks...
It's little wonder that with all of this activity, he has meltdowns from time to time! Phew!
LM. :)
