Changing Rooms

For months, I've been saying that we really need to make some additions to the upstairs in our house to stop it looking like a squat. Our bedroom walls lacked any artwork and the bare floorboards in all the the rooms just made the place feel a little empty and rustic to say the least! I did a bit of research and decided that Ikea was probably going to have everything we needed so I made my list and William and I headed off at about 9am to make our assault on the Swedish furniture giants. After a wander and play in the different sets ups in the showroom, we made our regular lunchtime pit stop. However, this time I decided to stay at the Ikea cafe and see what was on offer for gluten-free me. Turns out, quite a lot! I had the chicken meatballs, hunners of chips and the famous Daim cake! William was delighted with his massive kids lunch too, and I was even happier with the price.

Then we hit the marketplace where my research, lists, and basic interior design skills all came together in a beautiful cacophony, almost suffocating William in the process. He's generally a really chilled out wee guy but today, even I was amazed at his patience for a two year old. As I footered about, trying to find the correct rugs and going back and forward to make up my mind, he just sat in the trolley either colouring in his new book that he'd gotten with his lunch (clever, Ikea, clever) or watching Hey Duggee on CBeebies). What a boy.
And here's our upstairs bedrooms, in all their new design glory:
 And William's room:
I'm really please with the outcome. The place feels even more like home now. I also bought some rugs for the sleep-out, which, again, have just given the place a much more homely feel. No photos of that though, you'll just need to come visit and see for yourself!

As part of our Ikea haul, William also got some more bits for his train set and a set of chef whites as he's really taken to helping me in the kitchen. Just as long as Patsy doesn't have him in peeling totties!
