After the success of our raclette night which I talked about here, we were all in agreement that we needed to do a fondue night to really feel immersed in the French culture. Being Coeliac, I always feel slightly nervous about mass buffet style eating but someone suggested that for simplicity, we should just keep everything gf. I wasn't going to argue with that! So, this was a cheese fondue night. Basically two huge pots of melted cheese that you dip bread, meat and vegetable into. Thankfully, Roxy went to the supermarché with Iain so that they could buy the best cheese for the fondue and we then just got a load of saucisson and other cured meats. There wasn't a lot of salad of veggies consumed if I'm honest!
It was also cool to have lots of French people round at our house and try, on some level, to chat in their language. All connected through Section, Roxy, Cami and Adrien have been round before and have great English, but this time we Fred, his wife, Anna, and their kids were here too, and Anna's English isn't as strong as the others (but still better than my French). It's great how we all manage along though, and the wine certainly helps with your confidence! Hawhehawhehaw!
LM. :)
