Écosse

What's the best thing you can do when life is literally falling apart around you? Yip, run away. To be fair, we already had the Scotland flights booked, but in some ways, this trip couldn't have come at a better time. The house was a shambles and we simply couldn't do anything about it, so better to be out, than in.

It was, as was always going to be the case at this time of year, an utter round-the-houses journey back. We drove up to Bordeaux, and flew via Schiphol to Glasgow. It was a joy to get into CHQ that Sunday night and enjoy a very large glass of red! William is just so used to flying now that he trots off down the gangway without us...
We really milked the down time at Iain's work and we managed to be back for ten days in total. As I write this way after the time, I'm guiltily trying, and failing, to piece together much of the trip. (Mainly because my primary memory source, my camera roll, is basically empty from these 10 days. I only took 18 photos on the entire trip, and these are mostly all bursts!) To be fair, Scotland in February isn't ever really going to be a trip of beautiful photographic opportunities of stunning vistas and famous sights, but this was exactly what we needed: quality time with family and friends and some good old Scottish hospitality. We worked our way round the usual crowd, having dinners, drinking beers, and talking nonsense with our nearest and dearest. Ross & Vicki, and Cat & Divsy even had the joy of us overnight! It was also brilliant just seeing our wee people hanging out together too. Second generation besties.
We also buried our heads in the proverbial sand by enjoying some good UK shopping where clothes actually fit us! I've even got my eye on something from Warehouse for Anna & Matthew's forthcoming nuptials. I'm particularly excited about that trip to London in April. A few matters to get in order first though. While we were in Scotland, we managed to sort out an AirBnB to move into when we get back, and then what our legal position is on officially leaving our house. We just want this all over and done with. Arrrrrgh.

Finally, I took this photo in Glasgow airport, at our boarding gate. Somewhere rather special is missing from it. Can you see where?

Here we go. Back to reality.
