It's been a busy couple of weeks, where life just takes over. William is really starting to settle into school now and he's asked to start going back in the afternoons. (Big thanks to Anna Stanley for this one - we bumped into her and Rapha one lunchtime in town and when William realised that Raph went back to his school in the afternoon, he asked to do it too). We're also enjoying the short and very picturesque school run and, encouraged by watching his new found friend Arthur, he's been going by bike most days. How very French! Even at only four, he's seems quite interested in learning and has been showing us how to do his name, how to write coccinelle (they've been doing a story about ladybirds), and correcting our french when trying to pronounce his classmates' names.

William has returned to Le P'tit Club but I've not been as impressed with it as before. We figured that with him moving up a stage, he might be ready for different activities rather than just straight gymnastics so we enrolled him in the split sessions: half gymnastics and half multi sports, but I think the multipart sessions are just too advanced for the age of the kids. For starters, they're trying to cram far too much into a 45mins session. Secondly, the kids just need to learn simple running, throwing, jumping and catching skills. It doesn't need to be sport specific. Also, the practices were so advanced, the kids ended up queuing for most of the practice time and I would count William only getting one or two opportunities. No one is going to learn anything like that. And finally, lots of new starts were coming in and Jason was spending ages with them, filling in forms etc, meanwhile, he wasn't actually paying any attention to the kids in the session. Having had such a great experience previously, I'm remaining positive, but I'm changing the session he attends to try and get more from it. Especially as I've already paid the money for the year.
Still a sweaty monster at the end though!:
My current quiet existence whilst we continue with the IVF has seen me playing around quite a bit in the kitchen. And, as ever, I've pulled in my little sous chef to help when possible.
Fish pie:
Sausage rolls:
The sausage rolls were brilliant and I'll deffo make them again. Pure indulgence.
In addition to the kitchen adventures, we've been keeping ourselves entertained by hunkering down i front of the TV and just relaxing. As William gets a bit older, I've been a bit more relaxed around bedtimes at the weekend and I'm letting him stay up to watch Strictly. Especially when Iain is away and I end up just pottering about on my own. It's actually brilliant: the two of us in our onesies, eating easy food and snuggling on the couch, enjoying TV together (rather than the relentless CBeebies highlight reel!).
We've also had the Tito gang round for breakfast and rugby just like we used to do with the 6 Nations matches in NZ. It's funny doing it all over again on the other side of the world.
There's been some culture vulture shenanigans this month too. I tried, desperately, to get tickets for Glasto but, unsurprisingly, was unsuccessful. How the hell do people managed to go year on year?! Our newly initiated BookClub also had it's inaugural meeting. So highbrow. I'm that committed, I've even been out to get my eyes tested, and chosen new specks! ;-)
And then we finally reached Transfer Day. It was a really quick and simple procedure, and then I was home. And now we wait.
Lorna.
