A quick month & now, an eye on Christmas!

We met with Dr Dellis a couple of weeks ago and he's said that IVF is over for us. We kinda knew this was coming, but this meeting just closed the door on it all. He has put egg donation on the table for us, but we still need time to process everything else first. At the moment, neither of us think it's for us, but Xavier said that there's no rush and we can revisit in the new year if we change our minds. God, this adulting can be tough sometimes.

With us drawing a line in the sand, I've been looking at how I might begin to fill my time now that I'm not attending appointments every other day. I've started French lessons with Sylvie, Iain's old teacher from the club, and at our adult and kid playdate at Jess and Olvier's place a couple of weekends ago, I planted the seed with Jess that I might be interested in picking up a bit of work. She passed this on to the Principal at ISB who asked me to come in for a chat. I knew that with Bonnie and Mickey leaving for Australia that there were likely to be some openings but, unfortunately, all she was willing to offer was science and maths. 20 hours of teaching sounds great but when you're delivering unfamiliar content, the prep would probably equal the contact time so I decided to decline. It was nice to feel wanted, professionally, again and it was a good opportunity to get my CV updated but ultimately, I'm not quite ready to take this on so I'm happy with my decision.

The weather continues to be very autumnal so it's been lots of indoor playing (that includes baths!) and wee wanders in town whenever the rain decides to stop. William has started writing his letter to Santa and he finally mastered the Big Green Scary Slide at Park Beaumont. But it took Iain going down it with a torch to convince him! The council have put all the Christmas decorations up now and the Big Light Switch On happened on Friday. Libby and Ollie performed on the stage for the ceremony - it was really cool to see them, and town was absolutely packed! Great to get on the mulled wine too. Hurrah!

Friday night also saw me attend a whisky tasting event at Cave du Palais, one of the booze shops in town. Iain had actually been at one a couple of weeks ago with Conrad and they were holding another one which Lee had an extra ticket for. It ended up a really great night and it was lovely to meet the owners Louise and Thomas whose kids actually go to Marca. Louise is English/Scottish so it was also brilliant to be able to blether away in the Mother Tongue.
Saturday saw us back at the Stade du Hameau for what felt like the first time in ages. Section hosted Toulon, losing 9-19. Aaargh. As Hayley was back in NZ for a couple of weeks, Libby and Ollie got to hang out with their Auntie Lorna for the duration of the match too. Good times.
Lorna :)
