Subdued Noel Lumières

More retrospective posting with the help of photos and my weekly planner:

I started this week positively, with a run, but I didn't enjoy it because my feet are giving me serious jip. Towards the end of the summer, I was getting toe pain after about 5k but now it's kicking in after only 2 or 3. I'm now at the stage where I'm taping my toe to run. I need to see the podiatrist about the achilles problems / plantar fasciitis so it's pretty likely that they're all linked. I honestly feel like I'm falling apart.

After a lengthy separation, I was finally reunited with my tux blazer this week. I'd forgotten to pack it when I was in Scotland in March and didn't bother asking Sheena to send it over as there wasn't much occasion to wear it. Maybe, just maybe, I'll get the chance to wear it over the festive period.

I'm fascinated by all the work that's currently going on down at Hédas and I've taken to photographing the journey the buildings are on! It's a helluva undertaking.

Saturday was exciting as all the non-essential shops have been allowed to reopen for the run up to Christmas and the council switched on the Christmas lights. When I think back to last year how different it all was with Libby and Ollie performing all the Christmas songs on stage in Place Clemenceau with the rest of the international school kids, and us drinking vin chaud in the square until the huts closed! This year is waaay more subdued with no huts selling alcohol, and no stage set up. I'm just thankful the lights are up and on though. William and I took in all the sights and sounds then it was home for Strictly. Standard Saturdays.

I do feel like my current existence is very much groundhog day. It's school drop off, home, blogging, french homework, lunch pick ups and drop offs, and some food shopping or home chores. I don't see anyone apart from Iain and William and I'm lonely. On Sunday, I was desperate to get out of the town centre as I've been feeling really caged in. We went for a big walk and picnic at Forêt du Bastard and it was exactly what the doctor ordered. It's amazing how nature can help you heal.

I did manage to spend some of this week catching up on my blogging, so at least the lockdown is proving fruitful in some way. I need to finally crack it and leave all this retrospective stuff behind.

Lorna ;-)
