See you later 2020

I'm retrospectively posting this using photos to jog my memory. But to be fair, I don't really need much of a memory jogger for this post. I have pretty clear memories of this week...

The time between Christmas and New Year is always a bit of a weird one: slight deflation (or is that relief?) after Christmas but enjoying all the new toys and things you've received as gifts; eating the richest food you can imagine and not even feeling guilty at having a cheeseboard for your breakfast of a Baileys for your lunch (whilst still wearing your jammies); watching yet another "countdown" show and staying up late just to find out what ranks at #1; drinking to the point your back teeth are floating; and feeling healthy if you manage to get out the door for a 30min ambling walk.

We managed to fit most of this stuff in one way or another but after Christmas, my back deteriorated to such a point that just walking was becoming problematic. I tripped over my own left foot a couple of times and I later found out from the physio it was because there was now so much nerve damage occurring in my leg/foot that I wasn't actually lifting my foot to walk anymore. My foot was hanging as my leg lifted it off the ground to step forward so sometimes, as I was putting it back on the ground, my ankle was simply giving way as I wasn't actually controlling it. Anyway, all this will get covered in a lot more depth in the next few posts. Safe to say, the final demise of my back was well under way and by Hogmanay, I had assumed my new (only available) position of lying on the floor with my foot raised on the couch. Happy New Year.

At least William was absolutely pumped with all his new toys and was hardcore playing with his lego and playmobil. Oh, and in the middle of all this, Iain reminded me that we were now eight years married. Jeezo.

New clothes and new toys:

Roast guinea fowl, just because...

Last river walk of the year with new headgear. Running along here in the summer felt a million miles away for so many reasons.

Happy New Year.

Lorna. ;-)
