2nd Week of Spring Holidays

The second week of the holidays passed a lot more slowly. It was one of those weeks where you feel like it's a bit of an effort to come up with things to do Every. Single Day. The ongoing restrictions of 10km radius from you house and the 7pm curfew are just so bloody limiting and I've been feeling pretty isolated and hemmed in. The two sessions per week at the physio have forced us up about out early twice this week which has been great and and I've made an effort to catch up with Alisha and the Ramsay boys which William loved. We've also seen Jess, Arts and Frida out at the MTB park / Skate Park (where Arts fell under my watch - aaargh), and Iain, William and I went an a bike bike ride wildlife adventure on Saturday where William was collecting items in his Special Adventurer Bag. Sometime you just need to recognise that it's all been a bit rubbish and the best way to deal with that is get out, do things, and see people.

Saturday Morning Snuggles - Look at the length of his legs!

Adventurers

The absolute highlight of the week, by far, is that on Thursday, I ran for the first time since my operation. It might have only been walk for a min / run for a min, for 10mins, but it was actually running. If I could have seen myself doing that in January, I'd have been astonished so it just shows how far I've come in five months. Delighted is an understatement.

In other health related news, Iain finally got his eyes tested at the ophthalmologist. It's only taken a year. He took William for his test too which was great. Two birds and a stone etc, etc. As we all expected, William's eyes are fine, and Iain is blind. Cue some hilarious trips around the various opticians in Pau and Iain trying really hard not to look like his alter ego, Tim Horton:

And it yet more health related news, I fell off my bike today after we had been out on our big adventurer ride. It had been a really leisurely cycle but when we got back into town, there had been a light smir of rain and the cobbles were really slippy so when I pulled the brakes outside our front door, my back wheel spun out and down I went. We had both just said to William to be careful due to the rain. Typically, he went down anyway, and I went down at the same time as him. Iain didn't know who to help first. It was utterly calamitous. I was initially worried for my back but Iain helped me up and I felt fine but once I got into the house I realised I actually had quite sore ribs. Physio will be interesting this week. ;-) Honestly, I'm a pure idiot sometimes.

In more of keeping myself busy, I've been playing around a wee bit in the kitchen again. First with hazelnut macaroons (the simplest recipe ever, courtesy of Jess!), my adapted chicken gratin, and a roast chicken dinner on Sunday with all the trimmings. My mouth is actually watering just thinking about it.

LM :-)
