The first Saturday of the holidays saw us hosting loads of the rugby gang for a big chilli dinner and plenty of cheese, wine and saucisson. Sandra, JN and Giddy joined us too and it was just lovely to have a houseful. As ever, I over-catered and had enough leftovers to feed (as Legs put it) half of the French army. Better than not having enough ;-)
The first week of the school holidays was absolutely dominated by one thing, and one thing only: swimming lessons at the Stade Nautique. I'd managed to get William re-enrolled with the Section Paloise Dauphins holiday programme and he was in, two sessions per day, morning and afternoon for the entire first week of the holidays. It's a lot! And, as the building work is now at full throttle in the courtyard, we couldn't rely on using the car during the day so we had to bike to every session. Typically, the weather was rubbish for much of the week so I was either freezing or soaking, or both while I stood and watched. I did get out for a walk while William was swimming one day, and I also managed my own swimming session on another which was really wonderful, but having no access to the car was tricky. Anyway, William had a great week and came on leaps and bounds. It was great to see his confidence growing as well as his stroke technique. As you'd imagine, by the end of the week, he was gubbed.
Between caravanning William up and down to the pool twice a day for a week, I took on the job of trying to organise a roadie for the second week of the hols. We decided on Andorra, but with it being the school holidays, and ski season, prices were steep and availability was patchy. I was demented trying to make it work. I finally managed to work out a plan of attack, we dropped the school stick insects off a Odel's place on Saturday morning, and came home to pack for a week in the mountains. Hurrah! A holiday beckons!
Lorna ;-)
