Dry Jan: Done

Morning!
Saturday morning, boys at tennis, I'm in bed, coffee in hand, Dermott on the radio, wee bit tired after an evening of Appletinis and GinTos with the rugby girls. It was a great night - I had a load of the girls round here for apéros before going out for dinner and drinks at Bar No5. When I was heading to the shops earlier in the day to get the provisions in, Iain had suggested the Appletinis and they were a massive hit! If we'd stayed here it might've got a bit messy but the food and chatter at Passage slowed us down and it was round to the boozer for nightcaps. Also bumped into Mathieu in there who's down from La Rochelle for the weekend. It was a good night.

So, this week.

We kinda felt for William a bit last weekend. He needs other kids to play with at the weekend rather than just hanging out with adults all the time and we didn't really have much in our schedule in the way of that. We arranged to meet Andy and Sophie for lunch at Passage on Saturday and after that, we went for a bit of a walk around town via Beaumont playground. William just couldn't be bothered with it so it was up the road for some James Bond. On Sunday, we threw some messages out to various people and ended up doing a bit of a play in the chateau parc with Leesa, Tynan and Calie. He really needed it and we need to do more of that. We rounded the weekend off with a third cas positif email from the school. Another round of testing beckons.

Monday saw me foregoing the gym as I'd booked the car in to get a replacement windscreen. Managed to navigate the whole thing in (mostly) french which was a win. I went to Hortense to pass the time and spent the morning drinking coffee and retrospective blogging. An industrious morning.

Iain and I did a huge walk on Tuesday, covering about 10k and getting the shopping in, in the process. The building work has really begun in earnest so getting the car in and out during the day is a lottery. We took backpacks to Casino and I think it's likely to be the new shopping method. I had a french lesson in the afternoon. It was good and my heid was bursting by the end.

We were in the gym on Wednesday morning and William began his swimming lessons at the Stade Nautique in the afternoon. I was nervous that he was going to get overwhelmed and refuse to go in but lots of chat about what to expect beforehand seemed to help him prepare for it all and he was absolutely brilliant. He just went straight in with the other kids, got on with it, and had lots of fun. I was very relieved that he enjoyed it all so much. He literally came bouncing out of the pool with a huge smile on his face. I took him to Beanz for afternoon tea as a "well done". I'm delighted we've got him into this now and the timing is just perfect.

After our walk, Thursday saw me getting on with quite a lot of stuff from my weekly to-do list. I've found that Thursdays tend to be my most productive day of the week. William has afternoon guardarie so I have that bit extra time to really get into tasks. Today involved the guy coming out to check the roof for a leak getting to the extractor hood, and while he's up there, looking at the velux. He's the guy doing the apartment block so said he'll get up and have a proper look next week when starts properly. We might actually be getting this fixed!

I also made tracks to get William's DCEM card after the difficulties we encountered at Border Security in Toulouse when we were flying to Scotland in December. The government have just launched a new online application process which seems to have had a few teething issues (typical) but I finally got it all sent off on Friday afternoon. He looks so grown up in his photos.

Yesterday began with a workout to earn the GinTos. I managed to get a big shop done in between the tradies moving vans in and out of the courtyard and then the girls rocked up at about 7pm. I'll finish this post with some other random photos of the week.

Deffo a few jobs ticked off this week.
