Here we are again. William went back to school on Thursday 1st September. A big seven year old boy, in the big CE1 class. No hesitation, just absolute happiness at getting back into the regular routine again.
William's return to school also marked a return to a regular rhythm for Iain and me. Both of us felt like had jobs lists the length of our respective arms after a summer of travelling, holidays and playing with William. It was time to roll up our sleeves, get back to the gym, and get our ducks in a row (or cats, now that our neighbour's cat has tried to adopt us). The weather continued to be absurdly hot for September and we enjoyed a couple of weeks of catching up with different mates including a great afternoon round at Sandra and JN's new place celebrating Giddy's birthday, and a lovely Sunday lunch at Le Dauphin with Sophie and Andy.
Typically, we've had a few medical things going on. Armed with a fresh MRI, Iain managed to get a specialist appointment for his knee and the Doc said that the best course of action was a cortisone injection followed by a PRP shot. He's getting good support from Joffre too so he's feeling like he's in good hands.
In other very unexpected news, I have also been involved in my very own Rentrée. Antony had heard that there might be a possibility of work at STAPS, the PE college in Tarbes, teaching English to the students. A very long story short is that I ended up getting offered a one year full time contract based at the Pau campus and I started working there last Monday. It was an absolute whirlwind of a start and I'm still not quite sure I'm up to the job (modal verbs and suffixes?!) but I'm biting down and cracking on with things. Here's me buying clothes to try to look all knowing, and me at 7am on my first day, absolutely bricking it, and one of my classes.
After seven quick years, that's me, back into the world of work and I honestly don't know how I feel about it.
Lorna.
