After our top day on the slopes at the Remarks, we had a slower start to the following morning, wandering around Queenstown and taking in the sights.
Before long, it was time to jump back in the car and get on the road again. Iain had made plans to head south to a little place called Riverton to meet up with Bunter, an old friend from his days coaching at Lenzie RFC in Glasgow and the rest of us hired a separate car and made our way through the famous Crown Range pass and over to Wanaka.

Again, we were really lucky with the weather - glorious sunshine and no need for snow chains. We did the typical tourist stop offs on the way - the Cardona Hotel and straight down to the lakeside when arriving in Wanaka. I'll let the photos speak for themselves.
We got sorted with accommodation at the Wanaka Hotel, a run down but cheerful place right in the heart of the town, complete with its own log fire and a receptionist willing to let us drink our own bevvy, and play Kings, in the main lounge for as long as we wanted.
One of the things-to-do in Wanaka is catch a movie at their local picture house. It's a pretty special little place, independently owned and run, and provides patrons with fresh pizzas, cocktails to start the films, and home-baking at the intermission. Only in NZ.
