Rugby World Cup 2011

I'm breaking the Horse Lips Tour run of posts to have a quick word about a little thing that's starting in New Zealand tomorrow. Ladies and gentlemen, its the Rugby World Cup! What a feeling there is here at the moment. I heard it described earlier today like Christmas Eve - everyone is just geared up for it and there's a real sense of excitement and anticipation everywhere you go. Cars are decked out in their country's colours and you're constantly hearing people talking about their plans for tomorrow's opening celebrations and fireworks display at Queen's Wharf in Auckland. The buzz is incredible. People at work today were trying to do 'good turns' in order to be allowed to leave early tomorrow to get into town for the stuff starting at 4pm. Highlights will be the 400 person waka (Maori canoe) arriving at the harbour which I'm hoping Iain and I will get a chance to see. We've got tickets for the opening ceremony at Eden Park which is then followed by the first match of the tournament - New Zealand v Tonga. I am SO excited. Best shoot off just now, but I'm hoping to keep the RWC2011 posts as up-to-date as possible over the next five weeks so I'll see you back here soon.
By the way, click here to give yourself an idea of the crazy things that have been happening in Auckland this week.

Haha, if your father was to read that comment, he'd have a heart-attack.
