We had come back from Scotland laden with gifts and things had been arriving via amazon all week so Christmas morning with pretty full on. It actually got to the point that William wasn't too bothered with opening more presents, he just wanted to play with the things he had already opened. It was lovely, actually, as we were able to space out all the new gifts and it helped up keep a track of what had come from whom. Having said that, the living room was still a sea of wrapping paper, lego, cars, clothes, boxes and sweets. It was wonderful. Our first winter Christmas (in our own house) in nine years. We had the fire on from the moment we got up, we got into the champagne for breakfast and I had my ridiculous cardigan on all day! Iain out-did himself by getting me a record player. I felt about 15 again remembering getting a hi-fi from my parents! Karen and Paddy came round at lunchtime for a wee while so we drank more champagne and they very kindly brought a gift round for William too. The rest of the day we pottered around preparing the dinner and watching nonsense on tv. For my first attempt at turkey and all the trimmings, it was amazing. The highlight, by far, was getting my hands on GF sage and onion stuffing before we left Scotland. It was a proper Christmas dinner.
I went all traditional again with the food on Ne'ers Day and made steak pie from scratch. The meat was awesome but the pastry needs a bit of work. Perhaps a goal for 2018? Happy New Year.

Catching some of the Legs Machine on the Strictly Christmas Special ;-)
Boxing day was just your usual mix of more presents to open, and gin and tonics while still in your jammies. It's such an indulgent time of year:
First record: Out of Time by R.E.M.
Section had a match on the 30th so Iain quickly had to get his head back into work mode and it also gave me a bit of an anchor. You can very easily lose yourself in cheese, crackers, red wine and turkey leftovers! It was dry on Hogmanay so we thought that we should get out for a walk. We headed up to the new park at Domain du Sers. It's really good and will definitely be somewhere to hang out as William gets bigger. The rest of Hogmanay was incredibly quiet and we headed off to bed early doors much to the consternation of Catster and Divsy who facetimed, half cut, to find that we had just gotten into bed! Hahaha.I went all traditional again with the food on Ne'ers Day and made steak pie from scratch. The meat was awesome but the pastry needs a bit of work. Perhaps a goal for 2018? Happy New Year.
