Good Housekeeping

It's been a week of experimenting in the kitchen and getting the house and garden in order, in preparation for our guests arriving next week. Gluten free scones continue to prove difficult, even using the Edmonds cook book (that Cat got me as a leaving present from AJHS). Its just the flour mixes here are different to the Edmonds GF flour in NZ.
I also tried my hand, again, at a gf steak and ale pie. Too salty and the pastry was too hard. I should've gone with a flaky instead of a short crust but I'll know for the future...
I did, however, have some success with my cup cakes. I bought a piping set and my shaky hand needs a bit of work, but they looked decent, and William gave them the seal of approval:
All the hard work that I did in in the garden in September, which I wrote about here, came to fruition this week as the daffodils and tulips burst into full bloom. Delightful!
Iain also got stuck into the tidying up and began work on rectifying the situation that is banana-gate.
Spring is in the air!
