Settling In & Mid-Winter Break

We moved house on Thursday 14th Feb and William officially finished school on the Friday for the mid-winter break. (He hadn't been at school that week, though, as he'd had the 'flu.) These holidays were just what we needed. The start of the year was so full on so it's actually been nice to spend our days footering around the house, having lazy mornings, and just playing in the garden. I know the title for this post suggests cold, dark days but the weather has been spectacular! Vincent, the estate agent has had a couple of viewings jacked up already this week which we're starting to realise is going to be quite annoying. He doesn't seem to give us much notice plus there's a real expectation that we present the house in the best possible light. Unfortunately, the better it looks, the more chance it has of selling. I'm going to have to try and find a middle ground. While he's showing people around has meant us finding stuff to do for an hour. Cue ridiculous visits to park via things like building sites. Madness.

In more practical aspects of life, we have decided that the move into this house will be a much needed watershed moment for William and we've taken away his nighttime nappies. He's been dry at night for months and months but using them has been a safety blanket - an opportunity for him to do a poo in the morning while he's still wearing it. I'd love to say this has been a really easy transition but I'd be lying. He's taken to holding them in (I'm not sure if this is conscious or not) and is claiming he doesn't need even though he was a regular one-a-day boy. We've had a couple of desperate situations where he just couldn't hold any longer (day and night) but we had a bit of a breakthrough on the potty Friday which will hopefully give him a bit more confidence that this isn't a scary thing. It is difficult though. I feel like we spend half our lives just sitting in the toilet, waiting. But I've started down this path and I feel like he's ready for it. Just need to be patient and keep him going.

I've been listing lots of things on Marketplace and it's been great shifting things on to new homes rather than just binning them. We're definitely enjoying the garden at the new place and William has been out with his new gardening set from Auntie Anna. We've also been putting the herbs to good use in the kitchen. Section played yesterday and got a much needed win against Agen. Relief all round. And finally, we had a meeting with the IVF Biologist this week and have had everything signed off to begin another treatment. EEEK! It's all back on again!
