Still a Busy B

My weeks all seem to be rolling into one. In between picking William up for lunch every day, my morning and afternoon windows are packed full of things to do. This week, I've found three times to train (no running due to the ongoing plantar fasciitis so I went for a big cycle round Lac Laroin with Iain and went to the gym, twice, with Leesa); sort heaps of baby clothes to give away to friends in Pau as well as send to Finn and Ross; do homework and have my french lessons with Sylvie; met a builder about the damp issues in the office; and had a meeting at the school regarding William's PAI (Individual Action Plan re: walnut allergy). Most things, I'm in control of, although my back has been giving me a bit of gip again, but I'm very frustrated with the situation at the school. I feel like they only tell me half of what I need, so when I show up with what I think are the correct documents, they ask for more. This becomes even more challenging when I need to wait another three months to see the specialist, only for him to write a single sentence on the form (this time: Walnuts only; trace elements are fine). I don't know if it's my lack of french, or simply the french system, but here we are, well into October and still no further forward with William attending the canteen. Arrrrgh.

In other William news, Jess has got us onto the Section Paloise Dolphins for him to hopefully attend swimming lessons during the school holidays. It's pretty intense: one hour in the morning, one hour in the afternoon for five days. Just getting the paperwork submitted was stressful enough. Apparently, its really hard to get a place so fingers crossed we get in and he enjoys it.

That's William also finished for the holidays now. It has been a quick few weeks and he's settled back in easily. His new teacher Cecile isn't quite as gregarious as Nathalie but he says that he likes her which is the main thing.

The stress of french paperwork. Even if it is just for kids' swimming lessons.

Something I found out this week is that only Parisians and tourists call pain aux chocolate, pain aux chocolate. Sylvie and I had a conversation about it during my french lesson and then later in the week when I was buying William an end-of-term-treat, I noticed what had been staring me straight in the face for three and half years. Chocolatine. Every day's an education. With the autumnal weather rearing it's head again, I pulled out a family favourite, much to William's delight. Behold, the Beef Stroganoff!

Later,

Lorna. :)
