Goûters; Velos; Vaccines & Long Lunches

It's felt like now the doors have finally opened, we're getting the chance to see people and do things that have been shelved for months. William found a card in his bag last week which was an invite to a goûter at one of his classmates house. He was a bit nervous about it all but we headed along and I told him that I would stay too. I think Inbar (Ava's mum) was actually pretty happy that I said I'd stay and we just hung out, ate food, let the kids do a treasure hunt and then took them outside for a good run around. We had a great afternoon and it felt really good to be fully immersed with the frenchies.

William's needed a new bike for a while but with all the non-essential shops closed, we just couldn't do any research in the shops. This week, we got out to have a look at a few but ended up getting one through facebook marketplace. She's a bit of doer-upper but William is delighted. It looks massive

Friday felt like a monumental day in the battle against covid as I finally got my first vaccine. I actually cried with sheer joy. Just the feeling of doing something to combat this bloody thing, rather than just sitting in the house every day trying to avoid it. I wanted to hug the staff at the vaccination centre. I am just so grateful.

To celebrate, William and I got ice-cream from the new ice-cream shop on our street, then we had a very simple dinner for two in the courtyard. It's definitely getting warmer! Iain was away in La Rochelle with work (they lost) so on Saturday we did a bike ride (William on his new bike) down to Billère. Simple pleasures.

Once again, making the most of being able to get out and socialise again, we had a long, boozy lunch at Brasserie Royale along with Fish. The food was really, really great, and the company wasn't bed either. The absolute highlight of the day being that Jen and Pierre have put kids benches and toys out next to the tables, and Jules was there with his grandparents so William just played with him all afternoon. Everyone's a winner!

"And then we had our third Irish coffee..."

It's so good to be out again.
