We came back from our road trip for a few reasons: it was the end of term and we wanted William to be able to attend the end of year events at school (which, sadly, due to covid, had been heavily downscaled); I had my appointment for my second covid jab; and probably more importantly, Iain had some meetings with the new coach at work.
It's quite incredible to think that just over two years ago, I was asking for advice about the Marca Marternelle and beginning the process of enrolling William there. And now, he's finished. I'm gutted that he missed so much of the Moyen Section (again due to covid) but in general, he's really loved it and I've felt more connected to the school than I did when he was going to Joyeux Bearn. Here's the standard before and after outside-the-school photos from his first day in the MS (2019) and his last day in the GS this week. He's growing up far too fast.
Like I said, our return to Pau also involved me getting my 2nd covid jab - hurrah! In addition, William went to a play date / birthday party at one of his classmates' place and it was mental. I mean, a bouncy castle inside a flat?!
The final piece of news from this week is that Iain's having a funny old time at work with the changing of the guard. The new Highheidyin is making some changes and the vagueness of Iain's position is off the scale. There's likely to be quite a bit of discussion before the start of pre-season and the only thing I can say for sure at the moment is watch this space.
Lorna :-)
