Le Col Vert

Iain had one more week of holidays before the start of pre-season so, desperate to squeeze as much into his time off as possible, we headed back out to Les Landes for another week in a campsite. This time we stayed at Le Col Vert, a Sandaya campsite on Lac du Léon.

Once again, we were staying in a cabin. Thank god - the weather was really mixed and we spent a lot of the week dodging rain showers. The campsite was good and thankfully had an indoor pool but it did feel like its recently been taken over and is gradually getting done up. There were things about the place that just felt a wee bit odd - the water slides were completely separate from the pool area, and there was a water play area which was totally out of commission. The kids club was brand new and had two huge bouncy castles outside but William was really intimidated by the club and just didn't want to go. Perhaps it was because all of the older kids and teenagers seemed to spend all day outside the club too, at the sports courts. Iain ended up having to take part for almost an entire session before William finally got involved. Anyway, it just wasn't the same atmosphere to the Yelloh Village set up where the young kids area was quite separate from the older ones.

On the first day, I was feeling pretty rubbish - I'm putting it down to getting my second covid jab - and spent most of the day in bed.

One day we went on a roadie to Contis Plage and tried to visit the lighthouse, but it was closed. Typical! It was a really cool wee beach town though and we did manage to get gluten-free-on-the-menu food at a vegan restaurant. The "sans gluten" had me in the door before I realised it was vegan. Not really my thing tbh.

We did have a very good time but I'd say that over the piece, we enjoyed the Yelloh Village at Panorama du Pyla far more. The view at Yelloh alone made the place almost unbeatable.

Day 1: Before the weather packed in. William doing his best Cher impersonation, and the late afternoon view across the lake from our cabin.

Contis Plage:

Summer sun?!

In the time we were here, two other things played heavily on the week. England were playing in the final of the Euros, which they lost on penalties, and Iain was in negotiations to leave Section. What an emotional week!
