The first week of the school holidays ended up being pretty jam packed. As well as a whole host of home admin to catch up including: Iain taking the car for a WOF, agreeing on flights to Scotland for Christmas and booking them, my dermatology appointment (finally!) and a french lesson, we all did some sporticus things like swimming and running and the three of us did a roadie to San Sebastian on Thursday.
We absolutely nailed it with the weather, enjoying one of the most glorious, warm, autumnal days that you could imagine. As we hadn't expected it to be quite so warm, we were a little unprepared for the beach but we made the most of it anyway and the boys ended up swimming in their undies! As ever, Spain lived up to the hype around it's availability of gluten free food and we had lunch at Maiatza with is extensive gf options (I had a burger), then a very indulgent dinner at McDonalds. Burger #2. We also managed a quick supermercado visit before jumping in the car and heading back to France. We're so lucky to live this close to the border.
Our shopping trip over the border, was actually timed perfectly as I managed to grab a some items to help me create some spooky delights for the Hallowe'en Party that we had decided to throw. As ever, William helped my in the kitchen and we made ghost brownies, "boo!" cakes and and a creatures-of-the-deep cheesecake. The cheesecake was a real jump into the unknown for me, but it turned out pretty good. We ended up with quite a houseful on Saturday afternoon, and everyone was either full of sugar, or booze, or both. Madness.
