1st Contact Case

Last week I got my ducks in a row with my huge to-do list. I was hopeful that I'd get through quite a bit of it this week. How wrong I was. I distracted from the start of the week by Susie McCabe who sent me a gift through the post: a set of DJ decks! I am absolutely amazed/thrilled to have them. I just need to get my finger out and start learning how to work them! It's a lot harder that you might think. She's some lassie. She's been bloody well distracting me since the days of Higher Geography!

I managed to get a good bit of my food blog reworked at the start of this week. The layout has needed a lot of rejigging and I'm pleased to have come up with a new look for displaying the recipes, and taught myself how to create it. It feels a bit more professional.

The week took an unexpected turn on Wednesday night when I got a text from the mum of the birthday party that we'd been at last weekend to say that one of the kids had tested positive for covid. As William isn't vaccinated, he was therefore considered a contact case. We did need to do quite a bit of reading to confirm this and it still wasn't really clear if he counted but we kept him off school and the two of us did tests through the end of the week and the weekend. They all came back negative but it just reminded us that covid is still circulating and we need to be careful.

Iain and I were at the gym on Monday and Wednesday and I managed some walks. Thursday was particularly enjoyable as I escaped isolation and enjoyed some beautiful autumnal sunshine.

On Thursday night, we had homemade KFC and it was bloomin' brilliant:

The weekend rolled round and William tested negative so he was eligible for both tennis and a roadie to Bayonne. I'd had my eye on a place called Burger Bar des Remparts that does gluten free burgers so we went there for lunch then enjoyed a really nice day wandering the streets and exploring a different city.

Sunday was a quiet affair with autumn really taking hold and some good old fashioned food to match...

Lorna.
