With Iain heading off to Brisbane with work for ten days, I decided it would be better for William and I to head back to Scotland for a couple of weeks before Cat and Divsy's wedding later in the month. It meant William and I could spend time catching up with family and friends, and it also meant that we weren't putting too much pressure on William, having to do a return trip to Scotland for just three days. So, off we went, just the two of us! Having travelled so much with William already, I was actually pretty chilled about the whole thing, and William just takes it all in his stride. Even with William now two and half, my travel gem is having a baby/infant carrier. Having invested in our Ergo 360 two years ago for our first ever international trip, I just couldn't imagine travelling without one. When we arrived into Edinburgh airport, I loaded all our luggage onto a trolley, strapped William onto my back and we were off through the airport. I met a family at Charles du Gaulle who were pretty amazed when they saw us leaving the arrivals hall with the Granny remarking, "you've got this all sorted, haven't you?!". It's actually really liberating. Get on a plane and go anywhere. We picked up our hire car and were back at Jinty's by 1pm. Easy! After such an early start to the day, William understandably crashed out by the time we got onto the M8.
We had enough time to have lunch at Jinty's, get William down for a bit of a doze then we headed over to Ronnie and Sheena's place for dinner with the Cleland Clan to celebrate Gayle and Gregors' birthdays. It was wonderful to see William turn up and straight away launch into playing with his Gran then his cousins, and hanging out with his Nanny, Papa, Aunties and Uncles like he'd only seen them a few days ago.
This level of activity certainly set the benchmark for what was to come over the next two weeks. *Deep breath*!
LM.
