Family Fitness

All three of us have been getting into quite a bit of fitness in the past few weeks. Iain's pretty good at training most days at work, but he's also been going for runs around our neighbourhood. It's been a white since my volleyball season finished and I knew it was time to get off my jacksie and start doing something healthy again. Spurred on with a new training app, Strava, I even started running again! I was only doing 3km runs but it felt great to be doing something again - even though I hate running and my times were rubbish.
It wasn't long until my old body started to give up on me though and I had to admit that my post-baby body wasn't capable of the things I could do previously. It's frustrating as running is such a simple activity. No equipment required and you can just head out for 20mins and that's you done. I love swimming but it's just not practical with William and the opening hours at the pool. So, I looked for an alternative and Iain suggested The Body Coach TV on YouTube. Seemingly, this guy, Joe Wicks is pretty famous in the UK now, having been a personal trainer to many celebrities but his 20min work out videos were exactly what I needed. Simple but challenging, they need no equipment and I can do them out on the deck or on the grass. There's loads too, so its different every day and I don't get bored. I just need to stick at it!
William has now finished gymnastics club for the summer. It's amazing how much he's changed and developed over the course of the year. Here's some photos of his last day.
It's also been time for him to get a new bike. His wooden balance bike was just getting too small for him but he's not quite ready for pedals yet so he just needed something with a bigger frame. InterSport was having a huge closing down sale so I got him this one at a brilliant price.
His first shots were a bit tentative:
But by day two he was flying down the hills in the park:
Next stop: Tour de France.
LM :)
