Typically, William's school holidays did not coincide with either the Scottish contingent coming to visit, or Iain's break. Aargh! So, it was back to me and my boy, finding things to do and hanging out with each other, and our friends. The first week brought a lot of outside play despite the real change in temperature; learning to make French toast at home; soft play with Liana and Nadia; the start of Strictly (with Dr Ranj!); and finally Ariella's birthday party up in the Pyrenées.
The second week of the break was almost as busy as we got some interesting things in the post; did our usual weekly shop at the Birdie Shop; prepared for and celebrated Hallowe'en; did a trip to Ikea to check out sofas and beds; and joined the local library.Getting big - sitting at the bar stools in the Birdie Shop now.
Carving pumpkins with his dad:
Hallowe'en here, is great. With the kids being off school, the council run an event in town in conjunction with the local shop owners, where kids dress up and go round the shops trying to find Hallowe'en displays in the windows. If they find them, they can go in and get bonbons. Its brilliant, and it also means you don't really get any kids going round doors at nighttime. We met up with some friends and floated about the town for most of the morning. William was dressed at Miguel from the movie Coco.
Our trip to Ikea was mental. It felt like everyone had chosen to go there on the same day as us. But it was worth it, and we completed some good reconnaissance. The Kura bed is still William's go-to when we visit. Seriously considering getting him it. Still unsure about sofas. Finally, time for some relaxation at the library on Saturday morning.
Busy, busy!
LM :)
