There's been a lot of talk in the house about getting a more comfortable couch; the need for a tumble dryer to see us through the winter without washing hanging everywhere; and the most pressing one: a move for William out of his cot and into his first bed. Cue me checking out lots of options at all the usual haunts in France: BUT, Conforama and Maisons du Monde, but ultimately heading to IKEA for something I always knew was going to win out: the Kura reversible bunk bed. To be fair, a trip to IKEA is no hardship for me. It always involves lunch (including daim cake) plus going myself meant lots of uninterrupted meandering. Or as they say here in France: flâneur.

I finally got home in the late afternoon and it was up to Iain to build the monstrosity I'd just about managed to get in the berlingo bus (much gesticulating to a couple in the car park in order to muster some help lifting it into the boot!) But the result was what we were after. William absolutely over the moon with it. And remarkably, just into bed and normal sleeping straight away.
God bless IKEA.
Lorna. :)
