In-laws Pre-Christmas Visit & Gastro (Again)

Ronnie and Sheena came over to visit before the pre-christmas madness really took hold in Glasgow. As ever, it was great to have them here and spoiling us all, but particularly William, for the whole time they were here. Special mention must go to the gf mince pies, stuffing and gravy granules which made it over. They timed it absolutely perfectly as two days after they arrived, the town centre Christmas lights were ceremoniously switched on to mark the opening of the Christmas markets. Cue lots of mulled wine and milling around the main square. On the Saturday evening we went to the rugby for the Toulouse match. It was a tight match but Toulouse snuck it, 13-15. In general, we had a lovely few days of good food, lots of wine and lots of Strictly.
Autumn in France, and the subsequent bugs doing the rounds, then caught up with me very suddenly. Ronnie and Sheena left on the Monday I woke up on the Tuesday morning, not feeling brilliant. I got William to school but by the time I got back from drop offs, I was feeling absolutely hideous and spent the majority of the morning in the toilet with horrific diarrhoea and energy sapping nausea. I went back to bed, had three layers on, duvet, blanket, central heating on, but still shivering. As the day went on, I got worse and worse and by around tea time I was just rolling around the bed, groaning. I managed to get some electrolytes in me, then, remarkably, about two hours later, I started to feel better and was able to get up and have a slice of toast! Bloody French gastro. Don't remember ever being sick in NZ, and I think that's three times here now. Brutal. At least I've got a great nurse with an excellent bedside manner.
 "Mum, your temperature is 28."
Better call an undertaker then, William.
And then, 24hrs later:
And not even a night out to show for it.
Lorna. :)
