If you're ever lucky enough to drive from Wanaka to Queenstown via the Crown Range, you'll come across the famous Cardrona Hotel. Nestled at the bottom of the Cardrona ski-field, Suzy, Laura and Iona and I passed by here during our ski-holiday during the Horse Lips Tour 2011. As an NZ icon, the Cardrona demands a pretty high tariff (especially for budget travellers like us), but, as a one off, Iain and I decided it was worth it. Given the frontage, we were amazed at the size of the place and what a stunning spot. If you were ever thinking about getting married on the South Island, check this joint out. Let the red wine flow!
