Not to be confused with the mints that old ladies tend to eat when travelling on public transport, Iain and I headed to Fox Glacier to take part in a half day trek across the famous chunk of ice. The glory days of Higher Geography at the Ambies in Coatbridge was flooding back to me as we ventured through the U Shaped Valley towards the lateral moraine and then up onto the glacier itself. Like so often, the photos can't possibly do this adventure justice but it really felt like we were getting to do something special as we climbed up through the ice and onto advancing 13km monster with its massive crevasses.
Wee Ellen R would be so proud.
