Dunedin - Oamaru

Before leaving Dunedin, we travelled to the top of Baldwin Street, the World's Steepest Street. The photo below doesn't really do it justice, but at just under 350m long, it rises from 90m above sea level to 100m above sea level. For the geeks amongst you this represents a gradient of 1:5, or 35%. Thankfully we didn't have time to travel this by foot, so we raced to the top for a quick photo opp...
Then it was time to hit the road again. We were heading north up the coast to Oamaru to visit Julie and Paul Dee who you've no doubt read about in I've Got A Brand New Combine Harvester and JWTONZ Part 12 - Hanging with the Dees. Before imposing ourselves on the farm, we stopped off at the famous Moeraki Boulders - strange, large spherical boulders found on the Koekohe Beach. They're pretty cool. Have a look for yourself...
As ever, it was wonderful to see Julie, Paul and Connor but this time we even got a chance to hang out with Julie's parents as they were over to help her prepare for her second step into motherhood (she was due the following week!). As ever, the Dees were super accommodating and it was lovely to reminisce about old times with everyone over dinner and catch up on all their recent news. Its amazing how big Connor has gotten since I last saw him in April - what a cute little boy!
As a recent follow up to this post, Julie had a baby girl called Erin - mum and baby doing grand!!!
LM :)
