We decided to have a more traditional affair for Christmas this year but we had to indulge in a little bit of Kiwiana - Christmas Day at the beach. After Catster and I did 12 rounds with our turkey in the morning, we all headed down the beach in the afternoon. As expected there were quite a few folks around, and, like us, they were enjoying a cheeky couple of glasses of bubbly to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
(Photos from the beach to follow)
We then headed home to spend the rest of the afternoon and evening eating our body weight in turkey and trimmings. Julie (you know, the Doctor) headed round in the evening too with some delicious brandy infused Eton Mess. Unfortunately, however, this meant Cat and Divsy didn't get a chance to eat some of Vienetta I bought especially for them but we will make a time for this 80s/Leith classic before they return!
It was a great day but we must admit, Christmas isn't Christmas unless it's totally baltic, the sun sets at about 3.30pm and your also surrounded by all your family (no matter how crazy they are!). It's deffo something we're looking forward to when we finally return to the Motherland. Also, small editorial on this post: Divsy was absolutely delighted that the hat from his Christmas cracker fitted his noggin. Apparently the first one ever!

Looks great, Tell David to bring that hat back and see if it fits over my massive head also, if so we should keep it for christmases in the future.
